About Us

Morgan Territory community Association, Nonprofit organization

The Morgan Territory

Our Morgan Territory community is defined by more than 200 homes along a 14-mile stretch of Morgan Territory Road (MTR) from Marsh Creek Road south to the Contra Costa/Alameda County line, nestled at the eastern to southeastern base of Mt. Diablo. Also known as "morningside of the mountain", MTR is a popular place for equestrians, hikers, wildlife enthusiasts, historians, environmentalists, bicyclists, and even Sunday drivers. While we welcome many visitors to share in the beauty of our community, we live a different lifestyle than even those in the closest town of Clayton... a rural lifestyle that brings many unique joys along with many unique challenges in life.

The residents of our community are a hard-working bunch of doers, many with small ranches and equestrian facilities. When the global COVID19 pandemic arrived, we weren’t going to sit around and do nothing, so we formed this 501(c)(3) non-profit community association, as a way to help each other. Neighbors helping neighbors. It's what we do.

Neighbors helping neighbors

The unincorporated areas of Contra Costa County have a long history of being under-served with respect to services like fire prevention funding, emergency response, road maintenance, law enforcement, water, utilities, broadband, land use rights, zoning, insurance and more. The long-time residents know that all of these services must be supplemented by us each looking for ways to help one another when the need arises. Long-time residents have endured many crises like wildfires, road closures, floods, water and power loss, and the continuing struggle to get a good internet connection. But the resilience of our residents continues more now than ever before.

MTCA

We formed this organization for the community to come together, know each other better, and address some of these issues collectively as an informed group to preserve the things we love about our community and find new solutions for some of the things with which we struggle. We can't wait for another crisis to bring us together.
